Who Are We?
Appalachian Headwaters Native Plants is a new native nursery program launching Spring 2025 from the Appalachian Headwaters nonprofit. The mission of the nursery aligns with the broader goals of the organization — to restore habitats to a higher degree of function and resiliency in the face of habitat destruction, environmental pollution and climate change. We strive to do this by providing you with the healthiest, highest quality native plants we can.
Our experienced growers are dedicated to building a note-worthy native nursery operation here at Headwaters. The vast majority of our material is grown from seed responsibly and sustainably collected from the regions in and surrounding Appalachia, ensuring our plants will be adapted to local conditions.
Our Team
Isabella Walker
Bella is Appalachian Headwater's Native Plant Program Manager. She earned BAs in Environmental Studies and Spanish from Ursinus College. Her career as a Nursery Manager has been focused on growing native plants from local populations and getting them back out into the landscapes where they belong. With Appalachian Headwaters, Bella is focused on engaging the community in native gardens and landscapes; offering educational greenhouse and garden workshops, botanical tours, and of course locally-collected seed-grown native plants.
