Appalachian Headwaters

College Internships

Appalachian Headwaters offers a full time, 10 week, internship for college undergraduate students each summer June-August. Application instructions are posted each year in January and applications close by February. This internship provides hands-on applied field training in wildlife ecology, plant ecology, plant nursery work, habitat restoration, and community education. Interns live on-site in shared housing at Wood Thrush Park. Interns will take part in a wide variety of education, data collection, and research/monitoring activities with Headwaters PhD level staff (Dr. Collins and Dr. Saladyga) as well as restoration and plant nursery staff during their time in Southern West Virginia.

The application for the Summer 2026 internship has closed, application instructions for the 2027 season will be posted in early 2027.
